It started with a song…one I’m sure many of you have heard. A song of new beginnings and old friends. Auld Lang Syne. The new year looms so close and yet so far as I write this. A day, hours, minutes, seconds… a lifetime. The end of one year and the beginning of another brings with it many entities. The past year of successes, failures, joys, sorrows, lives and loves loom heavily in my mind. Could I have been more caring? Did I do all that was necessary? Did I give freely of myself? Do those that I love know it? Was it enough? Is it ever enough?

So many questions about my life to be examined. If I were to be honest, I did not expect to be here at this moment in time. Yet, I am. I’m so grateful for those that carried me through this year of uncertainty. Whether they are here with me now in spirit or still on this plane of existence, they are the colorful threads now entwined in the fabric of my life. I hope I have been able to add some color to their lives as well. They’ve helped me to dream of tomorrows and believe that all would be well. They’ve given me hope when I had none and allowed me to be just me. What a wondrous gift this year has been. I know it would be nothing without the people who have touched my life.

And now a new door opens to a new year of dreams and wishes. A new beginning of an old song to carry me through. There is something special about the dawning of a new year, it opens our eyes to a world of endless possibilities. Questions… there are many. But, I have no doubt the people we share our lives with will help to answer them.

So I leave you now with a video of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, there are many versions however, this is my favorite. I hope you enjoy it. I wish you peace of mind for the coming year. May all of your dreams come true and may the threads you gather be rich with color and love.

Happy New Year!
It started with a song…
.. and ended with a smile!
