It started with a song… a song I’ve been listening to for quite a few years now. It’s in every playlist I have. There are three songs that hold this auspicious place in my lists they are my ‘touchtunes’ (much like a touchstone but in music speak 😉 ), which remind me that I am lucky to be where I am. It seems I am always making new lists, since I seem to find new music to download more often than not. It’s a bit of an addiction, if I was to be completely honest with myself, it seems I’ve exceeded my iTunes budget well past the year of 2015. Some things are just essential, music is for me, although my husband thinks I may need to seek counseling or rehab for this addiction! I think everyone has a song that means something to them whether it’s the song you first heard when you met that special someone, or a song that reminds you of an extraordinary moment in your life. All of these musical memories seem to help us remind ourselves of something precious, just for us.

But I digress, back to the song I originally began writing about! The song is called “Everybody” by Keith Urban. Perhaps you’ve heard it? If not, give it a listen at the bottom of this blog. I had the opportunity to see Keith Urban this year on his “Light the Fuse” tour. It was absolutely amazing. If you ever have the chance, GO!! See him perform! He simply gives everything and then some, and I guarantee you will leave the show wanting more, but knowing that you saw it all. He engages the entire audience in his shows, you can’t help but enjoy yourself, even if you’re in a crowd of 20,000 people.

The lyrics to “Everybody” are quite simple but telling in their story; if you listen you realize we all need that ‘somebody’ in our lives and we all need to be that ‘somebody’ for others. I try not to forget this, however sometimes I do. I know I can’t be there for everyone, nor can they be here for me, but I can try.

I was talking earlier today with a dear friend and it reminded me that it’s okay to need people to help us through the rough times. This song came instantly to mind, so much so, that I started singing out loud! Probably not the most appropriate thing to do at the time, but it happened! Fortunately for me my voice doesn’t carry very far so I don’t think I was that annoying! But it made me realize that perhaps we could all use this song in our lives, if only to remember that it’s okay to need someone. I’m reminded of a quote I saw not so long ago… “To the world you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world.” ~ Dr. Seuss. A very wise man I think.

I hope you have that someone or someone(s) in your lives. I know I do! There are a few people I can always count on to brighten my days with a hello, a smiley face, a boo, or a ‘how are you?’ They always make me feel special, and they always make me smile no matter what I am going through at the moment.

I leave you now with this video of “Everbody” by Keith Urban, I hope you enjoy it. For the someone(s) in my life, Thank You! You mean the world to me and I hope that I’ve let you know this.
